Anagrams

3- to 9-letter quizzes with filters for word length and high-point letter count. Miss a word and it stays in rotation until you’ve answered it correctly three times in a row.

Custom Quizzes

Make your own quizzes with selected word lengths, vowel counts, inclusions or exclusions of specific letters, high-point letter minimums, and the option to include or exclude −S plurals.

Compounds & Extensions

Identify a 9- to 15-letter word from an exposed shorter one, knowing the length of the unseen part and whether it precedes or follows the shown word.

Stats

See how accurate and industrious you’ve been. Statistics are tracked separately for every quiz, and all together across quizzes daily.

Windpack comes with WOW24 built in — the lexicon used in WGPO (Word Game Players’ Organization) tournaments. NWL24 and CSW24 can be uploaded easily using Collins Zyzzyva or NASPA Zyzzyva. Directions are in Windpack’s Instructions section.

How it works

Windpack is a single HTML file: buy it once on Gumroad, download it, and install it as a PWA (Progressive Web App) on your phone, tablet, or computer. The process takes about a minute.

How to install:

iPhone / iPad: open in Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen
Android: tap the menu → Install App
Desktop (Chrome / Edge): look for the install icon in the address bar

After installation, Windpack runs offline. No account nor subscription is required. When updates are released, Gumroad will notify you so you can update. Your progress will be saved throughout updates.

Try it first

This demo includes three sample quizzes, plus a built-in copy of Windpack’s instructions. Read it to take full advantage of Windpack’s features. No installation is required.

About the creator

Joel Wapnick won the North American Scrabble Championship in 1983, the Canadian Championship in 1998 and 2011, and the World Championship in 1999. He has also authored three instructional books on Scrabble. Windpack is his attempt to build an ideal trainer.
